[1] BIG Dog Motorcycles is moving forward in 2010 with the launch of a new Chopper, aptly named the Chopper. Based on the styling of its current chopper models, the K-9 and Ridgeback, the new bike will be a lower cost option from the Wichita, Kansas based manufacturer.

“We are excited to participate in this price range with an uncompromised motorcycle of this caliber,” said Sheldon Coleman, founder and CEO of Big Dog Motorcycles, at the Chopper’s launch at the Indianapolis Dealer Expo. He continued saying: “The new Big Dog Chopper is loaded with high-quality components and performance specifications, and will appeal to a wide range of riders. Our dealers are very enthusiastic about this strategy.”

The specifications for the new model include a 111ci S&S engine and a six-speed transmission, a 42-degree raked frame and new rear suspension, chrome handlebar controls, a new handlebar array, chrome forward controls, new BDM multi-function speedometer, machined aluminum wheels, and a 250 rear tire.

Following the launch of the Chopper, Coleman went on to explain: “This is a landmark achievement for our company. Thanks to the cooperation with our dedicated suppliers and the hard work of our engineering experts, we have been able to provide classic Big Dog performance and style to a broader range of consumers.
